E-E-A-T for HR software
The trust signals payroll, HRIS and recruiting software brands need before Google ranks them and AI assistants recommend them, in a category where mistakes cost people their pay.

HR software is a YMYL category
Payroll tax, benefits and employment law affect people's income and jobs, so Google treats them as Your Money or Your Life. AI Overviews hold these queries to a higher bar and tell people when to seek expert advice.
- 39% of organizations have implemented AI in HR, and recruiting is the most common use (SHRM, 2026). That puts AI hiring features under employment law.
- 21 of the 29 websites we audited in the last 12 months had technical SEO issues.
AI hiring laws buyers ask about
Buyers check these laws before they choose recruiting software, and AI answers often quote old deadlines. Keep a dated page on your site that shows your current compliance status for each.
- NYC Local Law 144 — requires a third-party audit of automated employment decision tools before use. Effective January 2023, enforced since July 2023.
- EU AI Act, Article 6 — classifies high-risk AI systems including recruitment and performance evaluation tools. Enforcement begins August 2026.
- Illinois Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act — requires consent and explanation before using AI to analyse video interview content.
- Colorado SB 205 — requires employers using AI in employment decisions to disclose it and avoid algorithmic discrimination.
Trust signals for HR software
Experience
- Payroll accuracy benchmarks. Error rate per pay run, correction rate and average time to resolve a payroll error, with methodology and time period.
- Implementation timelines by company size. Not "quick setup" — "median 14 days for 50-person company, 31 days for 200-person company," with what's included.
- AI hiring outcomes with audit results. Which third-party auditor ran your bias audit, what the disparity analysis showed, and when the next audit is due.
- Migration write-ups with data types. Employee records, benefit elections, time-off balances, and historical pay data — what moves over automatically and what needs manual work.
Expertise
- Tax content with jurisdiction and effective date. Not "we handle payroll taxes" — a country-by-country page with the tax types, filing schedules and last-updated dates.
- Benefits compliance documentation. ACA reporting, COBRA administration, FSA/HSA rules — with the IRS or DOL source and the year the guidance applies to.
- AI bias mitigation process, published. How your AI model was trained, what demographic variables it excludes, and how you handle disparate impact findings.
- A classification guide for contractors vs. employees. The IRS 20-factor test, the FLSA economic reality test, and your product's treatment of each.
Authoritativeness
- SHRM partner listing with current status. SHRM Preferred Provider, HR Certification Institute approved provider, or HRCI recertification credits — with badge and expiry date.
- G2 presence in all relevant categories. Core HR, Payroll, ATS, Performance Management, Time Tracking — with current reviews in each.
- Named HR attorneys on compliance content. A quote from a licensed employment attorney (with their bar number and state) on every piece of compliance content.
- Partnership listings visible to HR buyers. ADP Marketplace, Workday Extend Marketplace, BambooHR App Marketplace — with last-verified date.
Trust
- SOC 2 Type II with HR-specific controls. Note specifically which HR data types (SSN, bank account, salary) are covered in the scope.
- Third-party AI bias audit, published. The auditor's name, the methodology (EEOC 4/5ths rule, statistical parity), and the date of the most recent audit.
- GDPR and state privacy compliance, per regulation. California CPRA, Colorado CPA, Virginia VCDPA — with your DPA template and the last-updated date.
- A documented incident history. Any payroll processing errors, data breaches or compliance issues — and how you resolved them.
